Fruit and Vegetable Labels
Fruit and vegetable labels are becoming increasingly important. Commonly known as PLU Labels, or Clamshell Labels for smaller products, these labels must comply with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations. If you want your product to be sold in North America, meeting these requirements is essential.
At Garín, we offer products that are FDA-certified for both direct and indirect food contact.
Once you have met the certification requirements, what’s next? Simply choose the material that best suits your product. Options include paper labels, white films, or transparent films, all FDA-approved. These materials are ultra-thin, ensuring they do not damage the skin of fruits or vegetables.
What about pineapples, dragon fruit, prickly pears, or other rough-textured fruits and vegetables?
We offer two solutions:
- For export markets: We provide white plastic films without adhesive, designed as a belt-style label that wraps around the fruit or vegetable.
- For national markets: If your product doesn’t need to travel long distances, we offer cardstock or cardboard labels that can be easily attached using a Plastiflecha fastener.
